This may be corny but for everyone that reads this I&#39;d like you to take a moment to think of Oscar and pay your respects. Mr. Jenner has hurt for him for a very long time and I would like to send it out in the universe that we are all thinking of him and hope his soul is at peace.

I think about this every time I read anything on facebook about going to war. People seem so nonchalant about it and talk &#39;big talk&#39; about blowing other people up and shooting them down. I don&#39;t think they would talk that way if they really understood what it does to a person to experience the trauma.

Okay. Sorry for the long post! But what he is talking about at <a rel="nofollow" data-episode-id=5e2548efab0fee0dcf667e58 data-timestamp=700.468572>11:40</a> is one of the most interesting things I&#39;ve ever heard! I have always thanked my network of friends for helping me survive my past. There was so much love and so much safety in this tight knit group that I happened to fall into after high school. I remember talking to them together and individually over the years. Late into the night. I&#39;ve always felt the period when we were REALLY close as almost theraputic. Now I understand it&#39;s because I was sharing my trauma with people I trusted in a safe space and every night when I went to sleep my brain would send that memory back with more postitive emotions connected to it! That is amazing! I am still friends will that group, though we&#39;ve grown apart but thinking about this now I may write them in a group message and thank them for making that transition to peaceful. I&#39;ve always acknowledged how bad things could have been if I hadn&#39;t find the right people at the right time. I had some pretty harsh self destructive behaviors. I&#39;m glad I have a better understanding of how lucky I was!!

Always trust your gut! Your instincts can usually pick up on a dangerous situation far before your brain recognizes it. If you feel like something is wrong, something is wrong!! Always remember that love should hurt!

That is such great advice to put everything into a garbage bag and put it some where high up. So clever for him to remember and save all of his electronics. I&#39;m sure that was at least a little relief when everything turned on. I wonder if anyone else has some good advice for someone preparing for a hurricane.

Hurricane Tips

When Dakota talks about how the rain felt like knives coming down and how they were struggling to see because they couldn&#39;t keep their eyes open are such important reasons to get these first hand accounts. I can see footage or the aftermath and hear reports on the news but when you can really better understand (though, never fully unless you have been in this situation) what the entire experience was like. What is sounded like, what it physically felt like. It&#39;s so important to really understand and help.

Sharing Stories and Uniting Us All

Someone commented earlier about listening to this show but not being really sure about what the method is they are talking about. I was able to find this video of a demonstration of a man helping a woman overcome her fear of swimming. It&#39;s incredible. One thing to take note of is how little detail the man really needs to lead her through the process. Truly remarkable.<div className="video-container">

Trauma Clearing in Action in Episode 67

This just makes me think, about 8% of the US population is struggling with PTSD. How would it change our society if we were able to get those people help and clear them of all of their trauma. I believe it would make a huge difference on society as a whole.

What if we could be PTSD free as a society?

It took me a long time to recognize that my PTSD was part of my identity. Five years ago, if you had asked me, I would have been furious at the thought. Like I want to be this way? But after therapy, I realized I was using it as a way to avoid dealing with how my behaviors affected the people around me. If i blew up or freaked out it was because i have PTSD and it was everyone else’s responsability deal with it or learn not to set me off. I knew it wasn’t fair for them but I had pretty much decided that there was nothing I could do because i had a disorder. I still have episodes, but i apologize more and I try harder now. It has made a big difference in my family.

Do you recognize PTSD as part of your identity?

Episode 65 gives me so much hope. I had no idea that people were making such advances in PTSD! I have been trying to come to terms with understanding that I will just never truly be ok but it just never sat right with me. Now I know there is something else. Thank you!

Neuro-Linguistic Programming to treat PTSD, trauma, etc..

I get nervous when people talking about clearing trauma they’ve lived with for years in fifteen minutes. I understand how this works and how helpful it is for people but there are so many mental health issues this does not work for and those patients often also have PTSD as well. How often do these clients who have trauma cleared so quickly continue to follow up?

Do you agree that NLP is more beneficial than traditional psychotherapies? I certainly find it true that simply clearing the trauma isn’t sufficient and it seems most patients aren’t accustomed to clinicians who have taken that much time in the past.
